ABOUT Suzanne Beahrs is a dancer, teacher and choreographer currently based in North Carolina. She is an adjunct professor of modern dance, ballet, dance appreciation, and yoga at Elon University, and teaches at ADF Scripps and Ninth St. Dance. In New York City, she has taught at Gibney Dance Center, Mark Morris Dance Center, and Dance New Amsterdam. With her company, Suzanne Beahrs Dance, she has shown work and performed at Danspace Project, Skirball Center for Performing Arts, 92nd St. Y, Judson Church (NYC); the Paramount Theater (Boston); ODC Theater (SF); and Tempe Center for the Arts (AZ). The New York Times said that her movement has a “grounded, silken quality.” She has also had the opportunity to perform for Mo Miner, Ishika Seth and Dancers, Brianna Taylor, Mare Nostrum Elements, and others on both coasts. Suzanne holds an MFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BA in Geology from UC Berkeley. As a teacher and a student, Suzanne loves to be in class, where she can play with delicious movement investigations and share dance with others.
